Rapper Ja Rule Jailed for Gun Possession

in Latest

US rapper Ja Rule has been given a two year prison sentence after he was found guilty of gun possession in a court in New York.

As the rapper was led away in handcuffs from the court house in Lower Manhattan he said: “see y'all later” to his friends, family and fans.

Police told how they had stopped the star in his sports car for speeding in 2007 and when the spoke with the rapper they found a 40 caliber semiautomatic gun in a rear door, a gun that was unregistered.

Ja Rule pleaded guilty to the charges last December and is likely to be able to be out from jail after 18 months if he is considered to have had good behavior.

Before heading off to court it is reported that Ja Rule had spent his last days of freedom finishing off his next album which is entitled Pain Is Love 2 and is expected to be released while the rapper is serving his time sometime in July or August this year.

Speaking recently to TMZ.com Ja Rule said that he was hoping to make the most of his time in prison and had plans to not only write a book but also potentially study for new qualifications.

“I'm gonna try to make good of my time while I'm inside,” he said.

While Ja Rule has already fallen foul of gun laws he is also potentially facing a prison sentence for his failure to pay taxes on his income. He has also pleaded guilty to these charges too.
