Review: Becca Hatch Releases New Track 'Think of You'

Australian artist Becca Hatch has just released a new track, “Think of You”. It's actually quite hard to find a way to quickly describe the mood of this song. The music (including vocal melody) is bubbly, sad, upbeat, and futuristic. Now, how in the world can a song be upbeat and bubbly but also sad at the same time? Well, what the whole song feels like is individual for each listener. What I am doing is looking at the different parts and how they feel. The vocal melody is a little sad in places and also drives the catchiness in the chorus. The tempo is upbeat and makes the song feel rushed but also a little joyous and excited. There is a lot more to mention, but I think I've covered enough.
"Think of You" talks about a relationship that has ended but still lingers in the thoughts of Becca Hatch. She talks about how it can be hard to move on when, in certain moments, you find yourself unexpectedly thinking about your ex. More specifically, she talks about trying to forget a relationship that didn’t end well, finally emphasizing self-care as an important tool to get over that hurdle.
The video to this track has a very unique art style and is reflective of Becca’s love for video games. Many musicians go hand in hand with video games. Another famous example is Thundercat, who besides being known for playing bass like no tomorrow, is also an avid fan of all kinds of different games. The artist behind the wonderful music video is Sydney-based artist Kyla Bose. When we speak about what emotions different parts of a song contain, the video certainly contains a lot of “lonely” and “sad”. This track would go well on a dance floor, or just to liven up any part of everyday life. Apart from the EDM hook, the track kind of reminds me of something Pinkpantheress could have worked on. Becca will be going on an Australian tour, starting on April 30th. If you are not Australian and want to increase the odds of Becca one day coming to perform in your part of the world, I suggest listening to "Think of You" and giving it some momentum.
