We have witnessed how Kali Uchis undergoes a dramatic evolution since her appearance on the timeless Gorillaz album "Humanz." Each subsequent release from Kali has brought forth collaborations with renowned artists such as Lana del Rey and Tyler, the Creator. Now, in her latest album, she collaborates with the current biggest hits in Latin America: Peso Pluma and Karol G.

The orchestration of the album reminds me of a fusion of Synth-pop, 90s electronic music, R&B, and even certain tracks like "Me pongo loca" evoke memories of obscure productions from the Epoque de techno period of Miharu Koshi, produced by the legendary Haruomi Hosono.

In addition to this distinctive instrumental style, the album draws inspiration from various popular Latin American music genres. From Latin rock and early 2000s Mexican pop to salsa, bolero, and the extensive use of Cuban rhythms, the album covers a wide musical spectrum. Additionally, every song is infused with occasional sprinkles of reggaeton.

In fact, the "Orquidea" (Orchids) is the national flower of Colombia, a country that houses more than 2,000 exclusive species of the flower. This album may be a love letter to Latin America!

It seems the Motomami phenomenon is making a significant impact on the pop scene, and it's a cause for celebration! Personally, I appreciate the global attention Latin American music is gaining among young audiences. And I invite you to listen, especially to "Te mata" (It kills you) and "Dame un beso" (Give me a kiss), which showcase Bolero and Salsa, respectively. They present these traditional styles in a new and refreshed manner that, hopefully, will enable them to endure through the next generations.

At its core, Kali Uchis is a pop artist, so there isn't a specific audience to recommend this to. Everyone is invited. Just press play and enjoy!
