Jacob Collier's eagerly anticipated "Djesse Vol. 4" album release is now just days away, and the avant-garde virtuoso excites us with a final preview, this time in collaboration with the acclaimed Colombian pop sensation Camilo.

Camilo, hailed as an internationally recognized composer of love songs, seamlessly blends salsa, Latin American urban rhythms, and the Latin pop sounds of the 2000s. He joins forces with Collier, a polymathic musical savant fluent in the musical dialect of the internet. Together, they serve up a delectable sonic feast—undeniably pop, occasionally raucous, yet brimming with captivating juxtapositions. Their collaboration, with the name of “Mi corazón” oscillates between two distinct sound textures: one adorned with acoustic intricacies, cascading arpeggios, and meticulously tuned percussion, while the other boasts a lush synth orchestration, dense and enveloping. Yet, amidst this dynamic interplay, a pulsating synth bass serves as the unifying force, seamlessly binding these contrasting elements together.

I find it interesting how Jacob always respects and brings out the best of each artist who collaborates with him. In the aforementioned textures, the first one, the acoustic one, embodies the best characteristics of a Camilo song with the added coat of paint of Collier's production and his signature structural modulations. The synth part is a bit more experimental, but we can definitely hear the distinctive styles of Camilo and Collier in perfect harmony.

The accompanying music video is a mesmerizing journey, both visually arresting and trippy, impeccably crafted from start to finish. However, what captivates me the most are the final minutes: A tender glimpse into the music-making processes and the intimate collaboration between Collier and Camilo. They allow us to see how they exchange musical ideas and experiment with newfound instruments in their private sanctuary. This personal touch, reminiscent of previous "Djesse '' installments, hints at a promising future: perhaps a forthcoming documentary chronicling Collier's collaborative odyssey with all the diversity of artists featured in Djeese.

A couple of months ago, we covered another "Djesse" track: “Wherever I go” where he did the same, showing us how they composed in a private setting. However, this time it's nice to see this embedded in the main official music video.

With bated breath, we await the arrival of Jacob Collier's fourth volume of "Djesse." It's admirable that Jacob continues to offer us little treats every day to sustain our anticipation for one of the most promising albums of this newly started year.
