Michael Jackson is considered to be the king of western popular music since the early 1980s. Guinness World Records listed him as the most famous and successful entertainer. He remained a popular figure for over four decades and contributed a lot to the western music, dance and fashion.

Michael Jackson came up in the Jackson 5 in the mid 1960s but he soon began his solo career in the early 1970s. He brought fame to the MTV and he transformed western music into an art. He popularized many dance techniques such as robot and moonwalk.

Thriller is one of his best selling albums of all times and it revolutionized the history and trends of western music. He made many records and won many awards, the number of his achievements is very much than that of any other solo artist.

His music and work was influential and he set new trends for western music. He had his own unique way of conveying his messages. He sang from his childhood that is why his styles changed remarkably and he gained a fully mature and adult voice.

Nelson George stated about his vocals that "The grace, the aggression, the growling, the natural boyishness, the falsetto, the smoothness—that combination of elements mark him as a major vocalist".

He broke down the racial barriers and transformed the art of music videos into a publicity tool by depicting complex stories, dance routines and special effects.

He was inducted onto the Hollywood hall of fame in 1980as a member of “The Jacksons” and in 1984, he was inducted as a solo artist.

He paved the way for modern pop music by showing brilliance in his work. He died suddenly, on 25th july2009, many a music televisions, including MTV, paid tribute to him by playing his songs for hours.
