Beyonce Slammed For Contradictory Comments On Feminism

Beyonce has been slammed for her comments on feminism as it appears at odds with her own actions.

She was very vocal in a recent interview with GQ magazine about her views on gender equality. She told them: "Equality is a myth and for some reason everyone accepts that women don't make as much money as men do.

"I truly believe that women should be financially independent from their men. And let's face it, money gives men the power to run the show.

"It gives men the power to define value. They define what's sexy. And men define what's feminine. It's ridiculous."

On the surface, her comments seem to promote the empowerment of women but in an article for The Guardian, Hadley Freeman points out the contradiction of saying men define what sexiness is but to appear scantily clad on the cover of the magazine.

Freeman argues the case that the photos of the singer do nothing to combat the issues that she highlights in the interview.

Another point highlighted was the fact that Beyonce’s new album was produced by some of the most powerful men in music including Timbaland, Pharrell Williams and The-Dream.
