UK band Radiohead have kept true to their unconventional form by releasing their latest album a day early.
The new album, the eighth from the Indie outfit, “The King Of Limbs” was due for release on Saturday, February 19 but was made available a day early after the band claimed “it was ready”.
The and from Oxford released the new album for fans digitally via their website while also posting a new video for a track from the album entitled “Lotus Flower”.
This time fans will not be choosing to pay the amount of money that they want for the album as they did last time with their album “In Rainbows” in 2007, a move that marked the bands removal from the conventional music scene.
Instead, an MP3 version of the album is now available to buy for six pounds while the physical version of the album will be released later with prices starting at 30 pounds.
Radiohead leader singer Thom Yorke has hinted that the physical package will be worth the wait and the money saying that includes “many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.”
Fans pleased and surprised with the early release of the album took to twitter and other social networking sites to rave about the release with it being band being one of the most used words on Twitter during the day.
As to why it came out early the simple reaction from the band was that it was ready.
A statement from the band said: “With everything ready on their website, the band decided to bring forward the release by a day as there was no need to wait until the planned date of February 19 to deliver the music.”
