Britains Got Talent superstar Susan Boyle has come in with the most successful album overseas by a UK artist for the second consecutive year.
Research from Music Week magazine showed that Susan Boyles album “The Gift” sold a massive 3.7 million copies abroad.
She may not be the most cutting edge artist in the country but her famed voice continues to be a top seller all around the world placing her firmly in the top spot as the most popular musical artist from the UK around the globe.
Boyle beat off competition from other Brits who are favourites abroad including eighties sensation Sade whose come back album “Soldier of Love” sold 2.3 million copies overseas and Brit award winners Mumford and Sons with their album “Sigh No More” which came in third place with 1.3 million copies shifted.
The spectrum of musical styles found in the UK was reflected in the biggest selling albums abroad with literally something for everyone in the top ten of the chart.
In at number four were established Brit rockers Muse whose album “The Resistance” sold a million copies followed by Phil Collins with his album “Going Back”, “Plastic Beach” by the Gorillaz and “Some Kind of Trouble” by James Blunt.
While the latest album by Susan Boyle has been the best British music export in 2010 its sales are nothing in comparison to her debut album “I Dreamed A Dream”, which sold more than six million copies worldwide in 2009.
