Post Malone will have his debut at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, he is set to perform a song from his latest album “Beerbongs & Bentleys".

For Travis, it’s the second time in succession appearing at the ceremony,  as last year, he joined Thirty Seconds To Mars for their performance of song “Walk On The Water”. This year, he will perform a medley songs, from his latest album “Astroworld”, that was released last Friday.

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will be on August 20 (Monday) at Radio City Music Hall in New York. This will be MTVs 35th annual award show. It will also be the 12th time from that venue, making it the most popular place aired from.

Other popular acts have been recently announced too, including; Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes and Logic with Ryan Tedder. Grande will be performing her latest hit "God Is A Woman", that will be available on her next album "Sweetener", Shawn Mendes will perform "In My Blood”, a recent chart-topper from the Canadian singer. One Republic’s Ryan Tedder will join Logic for a performance of their new duet “One Day”.

As for the nominations, Cardi B is the leader of most - 10 award nominations in total. The Carters (Beyonce & Jay Z) are behind her with eight nominations, while Childish Gambino has seven. Drake, also up for seven. Gambino and Bruno Mars are on the list too; with six of the nominations. Jennifer Lopez is set to take the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Last year’s VMAs saw Kendrick Lamar take pole place, winning 6 of 8 nominations. In 2017 the show was hosted by Katy Perry. Viewer stats topped 5.68 million, however, the ceremony became the lowest viewed since 1994. This happened mainly because of the season finale of HBO’s highly popular Game of Thrones, that was aired the same day. The Game of Thrones ultimately reached over 12.7 million viewers. Other contributing factors of lower VMA  figures, are viewing trends that have shifted considerably. Abilities to stream the Awards live on smartphones, tablets and computers have become readily available; a high contributing factor to lower TV figures.
