The super-cool, soulful, firecracker force of nature that is Fantastic Negrito has announced a deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed sophomore album, Please Don’t Be Dead. The new edition will be released on October 5th via Cooking Vinyl and Blackball Universe and will feature previously unreleased versions of five tracks from the album – including the stomping, startling recent single The Duffler.

Pre-orders of the album will also receive an instant download of the compelling Dark Windows (acoustic) which is being released to coincide with National Suicide Prevention Week. Check out the song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOL_bfl-onA

Previously best known for the spine-tingling An Honest Man, theme tune to the Ron Perlman-starring TV show Hand Of God, the Oakland, Califronia native released Please Don’t Be Dead in June of this year. The album saw Negrito (the stage name of the erstwhile Xavier Dphrepaulezz) expand on the template set by his 2016 debut, tackling even more personal, hard-hitting subjects in amongst a fine mash of blues, rock, folk, soul and funk.

About the album, Mojo said “…burrowing into Delta blues, weaving in elements of Leadbelly, Prince-style funk and hip-hop loops. You could call the tone political, but it’s just a cry for calm in a world of addiction, guns, corrupt police…” while the venerable Classic Rock magazine proclaimed, “Prince aside, there are no other comparisons for Fantastic Negrito – he’s dancing to the beat of his own drum, and it’s hard not to want to join him.”

The Grammy-winner’s live performances are becoming the stuff of legend, per Rock And Roll Traffic.com: “From the moment Negrito appears, resplendent in waistcoat, pin-striped shirt, and topped by his combination afro/mohawk, he owns the stage, he owns the room, he has every member of the audience in the palm of his hand and he doesn’t let go for the next hour and a half. His presence is magnetic and his voice – when he finally begins singing after lapping up the applause, waving and mugging to the front row for a few moments – is superb.”

Fantastic Negrito is currently on tour throughout North America and recently brought the house down with a live performance on CBS This Morning: Saturday. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIz4cRHtEtU

The band will play Dingwalls in London on November 1st, as part of a short European tour. Additional tour dates are due to be announced soon, find out more at www.fantasticnegrito.com/tour .
