Kevin Gates has his foot on everyone's neck in his new motivational music video to his latest track “Push It”.

The visual for “Push It” starts off with Kevin Gates laying down amongst several unique-colored snakes exploring his body. The screen then suddenly goes black and quickly switches to the 33-year-old rapper forcefully running down a dark alley. At this moment, Gates sets the tone for “Push It” being a video about determination and the challenges he has overcome throughout his lifetime. The first words we hear from Gates are poetic. With no music in the background, the rapper tells us the following: “My biggest problem in life was overcoming myself, but, once I defeat myself, the only thing left was peace. “Sometimes people think they can be you, sometimes better than you could be you.” 

Throughout the rest of the of the music video, we are exposed to visuals of Kevin Gates running, boxing, fighting, and rapping about his ongoing struggle to succeed in life. The video takes us through various shots of Gates in dark alleys, inner city neighborhoods, and cemeteries. Gates even gets political with a scene including several black men lying on the concrete with their hands behind their back at the feet at police officers.

The video then ends with one last inspirational quote from Kevin Gates:  “I've been fighting my whole life. I've been through hell. But to understand great peace, you've had to have gone through great pain.” From mentioning losses like being arrested by police officers to reminding his audience that nothing is impossible, Kevin Gates’s message in “Push It” is clear: If one works hard enough and doesn’t accept failure as an option, they can achieve great things.
