Which is what artists like Chellcy Reitsma is doing as well with her latest release, 'Black Water.' A fusion of Nick Cave's goth ways and Amy Winehouse's vocal demand, Chellcy Reitsma's latest EP takes listeners on quite the whirlwind of a ride - in the best way. 'Black Water' opens with a bang in the form of "She-Man." A song that truly represents the marriage of Cave and Winehouse in one, it paints a sultry but anguished filled picture of a man not worth anyone's time and the woman that has had enough of him. "She-Man" pairs well with the seductive nature of "Vixen," which follows.

As those give way to a sensual performance from Chellcy Reitsma, "Black Water" puts all the focus on the vocals as they command one's attention from the press of play. Of course, Chellcy is not just a singer but a poet as well and showcases that wonderfully with "No Regrets" right at the end to close the chapter on this EP. Originally from California, Chellcy Reitsma's family exposed her to music early on.

American folk, rock, and gospel filled their home and instilled a creative passion in Chellcy. Once she was old enough to leave home, she headed to Chicago and studied art and dance. While she didn't study it formally at the time, music was always a part of Chellcy's story and a few years after relocating to the island of Malta in 2012, her musical journey began.

Today she has a handful of singles and 'Black Water' to satisfy music lovers near and far. With genres being less and less of a thing that binds listeners to what they like and dislike, Chellcy Reitsma is taking advantage of that with her mix of alternative, soul, and the blues on 'Black Water.'
