The fans keenly waiting for new music from this alternative-rock band may just have their prayers answered, as The Treble’s new single ‘Fix of You’ arrives just in time for the fall.
A vibrant, fiery yet soulful track about those vile pursuits towards which we keep drifting against our best interests, ‘Fix of You’ is lush with the catchiest electro-pop sounds, extensive drum instrumentation as well as the positively charging vocals from their frontman. It also boasts of an equally impressive music video that matches up to the track’s masterful production levels and demonstrates that the Treble can indeed be very charismatic and creative when given the space to be so.
The track begins with striking piano chords complemented by a persuasive injection of bass---while the lead singer’s voice is musing about a relationship that “shined too bright” yet he felt like he could not “see the sun anymore”. The attributes of that manic relationship are reflected not just in the loud, raspy beats jostling through the song but in how the video characterizes that relationship by expressive lighting, performance and color scheme. The set of television sets gleaming behind the frame of the lead singer enables the video to inhabit a space of blue, while the wall color and make-up fluctuate between pink and purple. These rapidly changing colors invite a disorienting, maddening vibe into the song that speaks to the couple’s dysfunctional relationship being portrayed. There is an acute sense of vulnerability in how he reveals that due to this relationship, he “treats his body like hell”, and the slowed-down tempo and instrumentation allow those words to have their moment.
Yet the chorus is an infectious force of nature, as the words are reinforced by powerful backing vocals, instantly rendering this song as a classic to be sung at the top of one’s lungs at each and every one of The Treble’s concerts. As fans make their plans in following the band through their upcoming sophomore album, the Treble has assured them through this single that they won’t let up with their music.
