Bazzi’s latest ‘Renee’s Song’ is one of the purest, most forthcoming and touching love songs you will hear in a long time.

The singer-songwriter from Michigan has released some electrifying, catchy tracks over the years, many of which have gained second lives through social media platforms such as TikTok and Snapchat. But the new tune is bursting with true-from-the-heart passion and wonder, the kind his fans haven’t seen from him in his other hits. The song is dedicated to his longtime girlfriend Renee Herbert, and in an effort to keep the visuals as authentic as he’s kept the lyrics, the accompanying video to the single features adorable home clips of the pair. 

Set to a tender acoustic guitar riff that chimes and strums throughout the entire composition, the most notable highlight is the gentleness in which Bazzi approaches the melody. He has stripped down the instrumentation to its bare minimum, and the simplicity brings out the depth of emotion being expressed by the singer. Whereas his previous radio hits ‘Mine’ and ‘Beautiful’ contained some infectious electropop beats and synth productions, this harmony is made for a soft, impassioned exploration of the feelings that lie within. The lyrics are kept more or less short and sweet, with Bazzi preferring second-person pleas over detailed pronouncements of his love. But that doesn’t mean the passion is going to be any less affective; with words like ‘love’s our only source’ and ‘so free and full of life’ describing his girlfriend, the single nails down what it’s like to fall hard for someone. 

Bazzi released this song on the two-year anniversary of his relationship with Renee. In his social post, he said, “There’s a lot of craziness in the world going on right now, and I’m lucky you’ve put up with me for 2 years of it. all of my mistakes and insecurities and you still find a way to make me feel loved.” 

What’s refreshing is that Bazzi’s stylings are totally distinct in this track. He lays it down clearly but meaningfully, so much so that we have no doubt that certain fans of the young singer are going to be positive swooning at such an emphatic declaration of love.
