Australian songstress Kylie Minogue has confirmed that the forthcoming musical based on her hit songs, is still “definitely happening.” The project has been in the works for some time now, leaving fans to lament that it may not be coming. Minogue has explained that the process is taking far longer than she anticipated, with further delays resulting from COVID-19.

William Baker, Minogue’s long-time friend, collaborator and stylist is working on the upcoming musical with her. No confirmed date has been offered for when fans can expect to see it hit theatres, but hopefully Minogue’s recent confirmation that it is still coming, will put some anxieties to rest.

The pop star released her latest album, “Disco,” amidst the pandemic, and has admitted she had some mixed feelings about doing so. The global climate was not exactly one that lent itself to people attending discos, with most being closed, and she was concerned that it may not be the right time for the album to drop.

Ultimately, she chose to complete “Disco” in her home studio in London and release it to the world, due to realising that to not share her work would achieve nothing. As with her musical, the creation and recording of the album was stalled and difficult due to COVID-19. But her determination and hard work has certainly paid off, with “Disco” winning the hearts of fans and critics alike.

“Disco” is Minogue’s fifteenth studio album, adding to an impressive discography which also includes 13 compilation albums, 11 remix albums, nine extended plays, eight live albums, and two re-issues. The hard-working entertainer has also appeared in 21 films and 29 television shows throughout her career, as well as lending her voice to three video games. 

With a slew of awards and nominations to her name, legions of fans, and live shows that stun and enthral all who see them, Minogue has become of the most successful and popular pop stars of all time. She has admitted being nervous about the new musical, and how well it will be received by the notoriously tough theatre critics. But if her previous work is anything to go by, it is likely she can rest assured of adding another smash hit success to her incredible career.
