Charlotte Jane has spent recent weeks introducing her natural and accomplished live performances to her growing following, first sharing her stunning stripped-back take on Givéon’s ‘Heartbreak Anniversary’ and then playing the Latitude and Standon Calling festivals.
Now the rising star, who recently added support from Sir Elton John on his Apple Music show and playlist, to previous support from Radio 1, Radio 2 and BBC Introducing, shares her new single ‘Loving The Light’.
‘Loving The Light’ is a pure expression of positivity which perfectly soundtracks the sizzling summer, Charlotte Jane’s increasingly celebrated vocal gift supported by a polished pop production courtesy of the track’s co-writers The Orphanage (Alessia Cara, Demi Lovato, Kehlani). Previously, Charlotte Jane has excelled at tender, heartfelt ballads with an introspective edge, but ‘Loving The Light’ is the polar opposite. “If we just look around we realise just how lucky we are,” she sings, providing an ability to span the entire spectrum of moods.
Charlotte Jane says, “I’m rarely one to write happy songs but this one came at a time where I desperately needed to look for the positives amongst everything that was going on in my life. It’s continued to serve as a reminder to me, through a lot of shit that’s happened since, that no matter how bad things get there’s always something to be grateful for. I listen to this song more than I ever have with anything I’ve released previously. I genuinely love jamming to it.”
‘Loving The Light’ is already established as a highlight of Charlotte Jane’s live sets. It’s sure to shine again during upcoming appearances, which include this weekend’s 110 Above, TRNSMT (September 11th) and the Isle of Wight Festival (September 17th). Four shows with Rag ‘n’ Bone Man are also scheduled for 2022. She had proven that she could replicate her world class voice in the live arena long before lockdown, having supported Lewis Capaldi, Jess Glynne, Dennis Lloyd and Tom Odell.
Still just 22-years-old, Charlotte Jane’s early adventures in music included performing soul songs with her musician grandparents as a child and hitting arenas as part of the Voice in a Million choir. With a flair for songwriting that matches the class of her voice, she has continually enhanced her identity as an artist, notably with two EPs to date: this year’s ‘Refuge’ and her independently released 2019 debut ‘Nowhere To Hide’. Her story was fully explored in a feature with The Line of Best Fit.
