Bookies have increased Christopher Maloney’s chances of winning the X Factor after Ella Henderson’s shock departure last night

Ladbrokes now have his chances at 6/1 after the public have repeatedly been voting for him. Along with Jahmene Douglas, he is the only contestant not to have been in the bottom two.

Jahmene is now the favourite to win the show with Christopher snapping at his heels not far behind.

A spokesperson for Ladbrokes said: "This was one of the biggest TV betting upsets of all time. Jahmene was the big winner and he's now in pole position for X Factor glory.

"The purists will be leading a campaign to bring back Ella. Sadly for her, the odds suggest the show is more likely to be cancelled."

The judges were all shocked with the elimination of Ella. Nicole Scherzinger described the result as "a great tragedy for the show," and that Ella and James were "two of the most talented acts to grace the stage".

The odds that Ladbrokes have given for the other acts to win reflect the fact that nobody really knows how the public will vote next. Union J have been given odds of 12/1 and James Arthur 5/2. Rylan is has a very slim chance with odds of 25/1 though with him being saved from elimination so many times, who really knows?
