Beyoncé - MY HOUSE (Review)

by Peter Källman

Beyoncé surprises us with a new release titled “MY HOUSE.” This track is a part of promoting her concert film and documentary, “Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.” She actually revealed the track during her premiere screening of the film in London. Her long-time collaborator, “The-Dream,” also helped make this track.

If you are familiar with the sound from her latest album “Renaissance,” this release is very much similar. MY HOUSE is divided into two sections, with a beat switch. The song is supposed to talk about self-assurance, empowerment, personal authority, and being a responsible adult owning up to your actions. I think this empowerment is communicated very well; the song hypes you up. So it is a simple but beautiful message, celebrating self-love, strength to command your own destiny, and sturdiness. The title “MY HOUSE” in all caps enhances the message. I am quite sure a lot of fans will resonate with not only the sonics but the message behind the lyrics.

Beyoncé seems to be on an unstoppable train of success. Surely it takes a lot of design and smarts, as well as hard work. She is just coming fresh off her stadium tour of her album “Renaissance.” The tour was a hit, and fans are glad to see her back in the studio releasing another iconic song. This shows that she is dedicated to keeping her fans happy, always providing fresh content.

While it barely needs to be mentioned, Beyoncé won four Grammy Awards this year. She is the one artist who won the most Grammy Awards ever. She was that before she got the four ones this year, and she will continue to be so after. Either way, it is so impressive that it becomes bizarre. A lot of artists would be beyond gobsmacked just for the thought of being considered as a Grammy nominee. Beyoncé has won 32 awards and has had 88 nominations. I can’t write numbers in caps lock, but if I could, this would be a good time. This speaks to her status as one of the, if not the most iconic pop artists of all time.

With the album “Renaissance” just being released, we probably can’t expect a new album in a bit. But Beyoncé gives her audience a lot of hope when she puts out high-quality singles like this relatively close to her latest full album release. Some fans are claiming her next album will be full country. Some are claiming she will dedicate the proceeds from her whole discography for the next 10 years to save the melting igloos. Some, though, are just like me, happily and patiently waiting for her next move. Whatever this mogul has coming next, we are lucky to be alive during a time of such high-quality projects being available for free, at the click of a button, considering the amount of time it took to make them!
