UK Country music star Harleymoon Kemp is back with her latest single, Back in Tennessee, a catchy and upbeat anthem that effortlessly blends Country and Pop. With what feels like a slightly tongue-in-cheek take on a bad situation, Harleymoon’s lyrics capture the essence of heartbreak with lines like, “You said you'd call me the next day but you never did” and “You played me like you played your old guitar, and I sang to your melody.” The accompanying music video brings this playful energy to life, set in a laid-back Honkytonk bar, presumably filmed in Tennessee.
With its stomping beats and heartfelt storytelling about whirlwind romances, Back in Tennessee delivers a feel-good vibe that’s already gaining traction. The song has been confirmed for playlisting on Absolute Radio Country, where it will be featured across multiple shows from the week of its release.
The song, which draws inspiration from a summer romance Harleymoon experienced with another songwriter, reflects her signature style of storytelling, focusing on relatable moments of love and loss. She explains, “I wrote this after dating another songwriter and completely fell for their musical talent… This song is about that whirlwind summer romance.”
Already making waves in the UK Country scene, Harleymoon’s debut single Space hit #1 on the UK Country charts, followed by the success of She Looks Like Me. She also won Best New Artist at the BCMA Awards and is nominated for 2024 BCMA UK Artist of the Year. Her EP Lone Ranger earned her high-profile performances, including hosting and performing at the Mayor of London’s St. George’s Day Festival in Trafalgar Square.
Her live shows have gained a reputation for bold costumes, humour, and a journey through songs that tackle the ups and downs of relationships. Harleymoon’s musical influences include artists like Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, and Alanis Morissette, with her sound offering a unique blend of British flair and Country authenticity.
Harleymoon’s music is personal, drawing from her own life experiences, including her iconic family background—her father is actor Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet, her mother is Shirlie Kemp of Pepsi & Shirlie, and TV presenter / recent BRIT Award host Roman Kemp is her brother.
Despite her famous family, Harleymoon remains deeply connected to her own artistic journey, expressing herself authentically through her music.
With Back in Tennessee, Harleymoon continues to win over fans, and the track has all the makings of a social media sensation or fan favorite, with the potential to reach new audiences far and wide.
I’ve never been afraid of being honest. Expressing myself through my music is the most honest I can be. We all go through the same things in life but I love how sharing emotions connects us. I am so drawn to being bare-bones and vulnerable in my stories and my songs feel like little movies to me, little capsules of time I didn’t want to forget. I hope everyone takes my records and makes them their own.”
