Skunk Anansie Release Fiery New Single ‘An Artist Is An Artist’ as They Gear Up for 2025 Tour

British rock legends Skunk Anansie have returned with their first new music in nearly three years. Their brand-new single, ‘An Artist Is An Artist’, showcases the band’s signature provocative edge and biting wit, delivered with pulsating, spiky new-wave brilliance.
Tackling topics like ageism and our collective craving for digital approval, the track is reminiscent of the band’s unapologetically confrontational debut single, ‘Little Baby Swastikkka’, while reaffirming their status as trailblazers of Britain’s agit-pop tradition. Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Slits and Ian Dury, the single also points to an invigorated band at the height of their powers.
Produced by David Sitek of TV On The Radio, whose impressive production credits include Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Solange, the track marks a bold new chapter for Skunk Anansie. The band credits Sitek with helping them refine their sound, pushing them out of their comfort zone and into new creative territory.
“He reminded us to strip everything down and return to the raw, primal essence of making music,” says guitarist Ace. Vocalist Skin recalls a turning point when Sitek suggested a saxophone solo: “I f**king hate sax! But this cool dude walked in and played like I’ve never heard before. At that point, my mantra became, just trust The Dave.”
The single’s accompanying multi-coloured lyric video captures the band’s vibrant energy and contemporary relevance—an impressive feat for a group three decades into their career. As a precursor to their highly anticipated European and UK tour in 2025, ‘An Artist Is An Artist’ promises to be a standout moment in their live setlist.

Formed in 1994, Skunk Anansie is celebrated for their genre-defying sound and incisive lyrics. From their Top 10 debut albums, ‘Paranoid & Sunburnt’ and ‘Stoosh’, to their headlining of Glastonbury Festival in 1999, the band has cemented their legacy as one of the most influential forces in British rock.
Their music, including hits like ‘Weak’ and ‘Hedonism’, has sold over five million records worldwide, and their commitment to addressing political and social issues continues to resonate today.
As they prepare to conquer stages across Europe and the UK, ‘An Artist Is An Artist’ serves as a powerful reminder of Skunk Anansie’s relevance, creativity, and unrelenting spirit.
