Fresh off her GRAMMY® win for Best Rap Album with Alligator Bites Never Heal, Doechii is giving fans something they’ve been asking for—an official release of her early track Anxiety. Originally recorded in her bedroom for her 2019 self-released mixtape Coven Music Sessions, the song was never made available on streaming platforms. Responding to overwhelming fan demand, Doechii has re-recorded her vocals and officially released the track today via Top Dawg Entertainment/Capitol Records.
The excitement around Anxiety has been electric. After teasing its release last week, Doechii’s video generated over 80,000 TikTok creates in 24 hours, amassing 650,000 views over the weekend. In just over a week, the clip skyrocketed from 200,000 to 2.7 million views, with thousands of fans sharing how deeply they relate to the song’s themes.
Alongside Anxiety, Doechii has also included her latest single, Denial is a River, from Alligator Bites Never Heal. The album, which topped Rolling Stone’s “20 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2024” and landed in their overall “Best Albums of 2024” list, has been widely celebrated by critics at NPR, Paste, Consequence of Sound, Stereogum, and UPROXX.
Doechii spent much of 2024 supporting the album on her sold-out Alligator Bites Never Heal Tour, which spanned the U.S., Europe, and the UK. She also made high-profile appearances, performing Denial is a River and Boiled Peanuts on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, delivering a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music, and accepting the Hip-Hop Disrupter award at Variety’s eighth annual Hitmakers celebration.
During a special performance and discussion at the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, rap legend Killer Mike introduced Doechii as “an artist who I feel is the present, the future – and who’s going to change music forever.”
With Anxiety now officially available and her influence only growing, Doechii continues to prove why she’s one of hip-hop’s most groundbreaking voices.
