Adele Trademarks Her Name
- in Latest
Singer Adele has reportedly trademarked her own name in order to stop it being used against products that she hasn't endorsed herself.
She has filed an application with the Intellectual Property Office according to the Sun newspaper.
A source told the newspaper "She doesn't want anyone exploiting her name by using it on products which may trick punters into thinking she’s involved with it."
Having a trademark against her name would mean that her legal team would find it much easier to take action against anyone who tries to use her name on products that she has not approved such as jewellery or perfume.
It has been a busy year for the star with her having won a host of awards including recently gaining the title of AP Entertainer of the Year.
Earlier this year, she also welcomed her first child; a son with partner Simon Konecki.
Adele isn’t the first celebrity to attempt to trademark a name with singer Beyonce and rapper husband Jay-Z having attempted to trademark their daughter Blue Ivy’s name earlier this year.
The application was denied however when it emerged that a Boston based event planning company had already filed an application back in 2009.
