Social media has been reacting loudly the last few days over the cringe-worthy moment when 56 year old Madonna strutted on stage at Coachella while 28 year old Drake was performing and proceeded to give him a very lengthy kiss.

Videos of the infamous moment have being doing the rounds on the internet and the thing that people seem to be focussing on the most, and with good reason is Drake’s reaction to the impromptu face-pouncing.

His initial reaction seemed to be disgust but he has since taken to social media to insist that this was not the case- he was simply caught off-guard by Madonna’s lipstick. Many have since joked that the reaction was due to the fact that Madonna was “sucking the life force” from the much younger star.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Madonna has use a similar tactic to make herself seem much more relevant and down with the kids. You may remember that she kissed both Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage when they were both at the height of their fame but both were much staged that the recent Drake kiss; unless he is a very good actor.

Back when Madonna pulled her first kissing stunt with Spears and Aguilera, it seemed to pack much more of the desired punch. The act was controversial and got people talking, mostly for the right reasons. This latest attempt seems to be the death throes of an aging artist who is struggling to remain current in an ever changing industry.

Drake’s reaction left a lot to be desired and no doubt he has since felt the wrath of Madonna over it. His reaction simply served to perpetuate the fact that Madonna should in theory be too old to behave in such a way and the social media reaction she has incited serves to emphasise this.
