One Direction under increasing pressure
It had been reported that boyband One Direction would be taking a break next year following what has been described as a rollercoaster year for them but their publicist has now confirmed that this is not the case.
Following the departure of Zayn Malik earlier this year, rumours have been rife that the band may be close to splitting up. Unsurprisingly, it was thought that the rest of the boy may be taking a hiatus (boyband code for splitting up).
The band’s publicist said: "The story is all pure speculation and not based on any facts. The band are due to record. They're excited about their brand new fifth album and their upcoming tour."
When Malik left the band, he stated that he wanted to be a “normal 22 year old”. As a group, they have worked tirelessly since their rise to fame so it was unsurprising that one of them wanted to take a step back from that fame and return to some kind of normality.
As one of the biggest boybands in the world, the demand for them is huge and the rest of the boys must also be getting tired of being constantly on the go.
They are currently in the middle of their world tour which has just made it to the UK and their popularity seems to be showing no signs of waning. Their fans are among some of the most dedicated and as such, they must always be in the public eye to meet their needs.
So here’s my prediction: I think that the remaining members of the band will not be far behind Malik. The pressure that they are under must be immense and although there is no doubt that they enjoy their job, it will no doubt become a burden.
