According to rumours, every One Direction fan's worst nightmare has come true with the boys apparently agreeing that they will be taking a hiatus from March next year. If this is true, it means that their last gig will be in Sheffield in October.

It's the news that fans have been dreading since Zayn Malik left the band six months ago to pursue his own solo ventures, something that the rest of the band apparently want a taste of.

The band are just set to release their first material since Zayn's departure and the split would mean that they would not be touring to promote their new album.

A source speaking on behalf of the band has said: "They fully deserve to have at least a year to work on their own projects. There is absolutely no bad blood between them and they are all 100% behind the decision.

"It is definitely not a split and they fully intend to get back together at some time in the future. But for now it is the end and they go out on top as the world's most popular music act."

The source also went on to clarify that Zayn's departure had not influenced their latest decision at all: "This was the plan with or without Zayn. In fact, the band have been making amazing music and been incredibly happy without Zayn.

"Of course they would have preferred that he had stayed in the band, but they would have taken this extended hiatus even if he hadn't left."
