Rag’n’Bone Man Confirms His Appointment as Record Store Day Ambassador

by Diane Scorpion

Record Store Day UK is an annual event supported by BBC Music, and this year it takes place on Saturday 21 April. Over 200 independent record shops throughout the UK will be celebrating their unique culture with special events and artist performances.

The official ambassador for Record Store Day is none other than Rag’n’Bone Man, who recently won a BRIT award for best single. His debut album “Human” has sold over a million copies in the UK alone and has been an enormous hit worldwide with the track going platinum in the US.

Rag’n’Bone Man has always been an advocate for independent stores and recently said: “It’s a nice escape going to a record shop, spending hours flicking through vinyl, checking out new and old stuff, looking at the artwork and reading through the liner notes.” In celebration of Record Store Day, Rag’n’Bone Man has written a new song “Don’t Set the World on Fire”, which was recorded live and pressed straight to vinyl.

With a limited run of only 1500 copies, this exclusive 12-inch coloured vinyl will only be available at record shops on April 21.

The most significant record-buying event on the music scene, this year’s festivities include the chance to purchase a one-off, unique edition turntable created by Rega Research. A limited number have been signed by some of today’s top stars including Baxter Dury, Jake Bugg, Ian Anderson and Fatboy Slim.

Simon Webster of Rega Research has stated “We are incredibly excited to see this new turntable rolling out for Record Store Day UK 2018.”

Fans that are prepared to queue from the early hours to visit their local store will be thrilled to receive a Fred Perry record bag, specially commissioned for Record Store Day.
