Australian Country Artist - Morgan Evans Latest ‘American’ Music Video

by Frederic Lee

Australian-born Morgan Evans has accompanied his new single, called “American,” with a music video that details the exploits on his recent 10-in-10 tour.

The tour’s name comes from Evans’ feet of performing in 10 U.S. cities within the span of 10, continuous days, and it concluded in Washington, D.C. on June 30th. Other pit stops included L.A., Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, New York, and Philadelphia, among others. The tour, while nationwide, does feature two stops in Texas, one in Georgia, and another in Colorado, no doubt because of Evans’ chosen genre of Country music.

The “American” single – not to be confused with RuPaul’s recent single of the same name – details the star’s encounter with an American woman with “hair as gold as Kansas wheat.” The song is, in actuality, more of an ode to the United States than it is to any girl. Evans croons about the diversity of American culture when the song’s melody comes up:

“She’s American, making my world better than it’s ever been. One part Norma Jean and one part Marilyn.” The reference to Marilyn Monroe’s dual personas shows that Evans has fallen in love with both the ‘small town’ aspects and the Hollywood elements of the United States. (Reportedly, Marilyn Monroe was capable of switching between these two personalities on-command, to the recognition of passersby.)

The music video itself features Evans exploring American culture firsthand. Complete in the typical Country Star fashion of jeans, a plain t-shirt, and an electric guitar strung around his shoulders, Evans explores the high-rises of America’s largest cities within the video. From being featured on nightly news to exploring the surf via wetsuit and surfboard, the rising star seems to be accustoming to the U.S. positively in the short film.

Having arrived at sold-out arenas in LA, Atlanta, and New York during his 10-in-10 tour, Evans will be performing at 12th annual ACM (Academy of Country Music) Honors on August 22nd, before touring alongside American Idol’s Chris Young on the Losing Sleep 2018 World Tour.

Otherwise, the rising star’s single, “Kiss Somebody” was certified Gold in Australia, selling upwards of 35,000 units. Evans’ debut album with Warner Music Nashville / Warner Bros. Records is due out this Fall.
