Red Pine Timer Company Announce Tour Dates In Support Of Latest Album ‘Sorry For The Good Times’

by Cameron Arndt

Scotland's premier purveyors of prime big-band Americana, Red Pine Timber Company, have announced a batch of tour dates to support their second album, which was released earlier this year.

The Perth-based collective are well-known for their spirited, action packed live shows and us such these dates are not to be missed!

The band released Sorry For The Good Times - follow up to their 2014 debut Different Lonesome - back in January, and the new record upped the ante in every possible way with 12 tracks of breathless, effervescent music which skilfully mixed elements of country, folk, soul and blues into the overall Americana template – with plenty of rock & roll attitude in amongst some well-observed, sharp-eyed musings on the hardships and trials of life.

American Roots UK had this to say about the band in their take on Sorry For The Good Times: ‘The promise they showed on that debut has blossomed on this tremendous twelve song collection and confirmed the huge array of talents at their disposal.’ [https://www.americanrootsuk.com/red-pine-timber-company---sorry-for-the-good-times.html

Meanwhile I summed up the album the album on Rock And Roll Traffic.com as follows, ‘There’s a lot going on in Sorry For The Good Times, and for this the band should make no apologies, as the blend of strong songs, excellent performances and well-judged production mix into an engaging, enjoyable and all round fascinating listen.’ [http://www.rockandrolltraffic.com/gig-review-red-pine-timber-company-king-tuts-glasgow-051117-2-2/]

The band are spearheaded by the spirited twin lead singers, Katie Whittaker and Gavin Munro - a pairing with excellently contrasting yet complementary voices, while the group’s solid backbone of guitar, bass and drums is fleshed out by a cabal of multi-skilled musicians who bring in everything from fiddles to harmonicas, and trumpets to trombones as well as layered backing vocals.

It all adds up to a vibrant live show where the audience are never allowed to get complacent. There’s always something new going on, something unexpected, something captivating. The band might deliver tender, stripped back songs like Tracks In The Snow, before throwing in a Tom Waits cover then striking into the irresistible blues stomp of Look At The Moonlight. Frankly, this tour has been a long time coming and will be welcomed by the band’s fans all around the country.
