Noel Gallagher is releasing quite a few singles in succession. Following on from Blue Moon Rising, which we reviewed on the 31/01/2020, this new song sees yet more creativity from the king of the 90s Indie Pop revival and gives us a great insight into his versatility as a songwriter. 

This new track is very fresh and has edge from the word go. With a nice understated riff, the song brings us high energy and a familiarity, with a more traditional sound to the Indie genre. Noel Gallagher has brought back some melody lines that are a little reminiscent of Oasis’s heyday, with the same long drawn out notes for the chorus that took me back to some of the Definitely Maybe album. However, that was over 25 years ago and ‘Come On Outside’, whilst classic in structure, and to an extent melody, is obviously new and gives fans a taste of the iconic Noel sound, with some added extras. The excellence of the ‘High Flying Birds’ as musicians also adds to the production, with more complex runs and rhythms that we may not have heard on the early Oasis tracks, and Noel’s abilities as a songwriter to weave delicately in and out of the sections of the songs give his audiences a completely new sound to engage with. The audio on this track is in stark contrast to ‘Blue Moon Rising’, which seemed to be more electronic in nature, whereas ‘Come On Outside’ has a much more traditional feel and vibe. 

Towards the end of the song, there are synths which add another dynamic to the guitars that power underneath the vocals, with the drum, steady and stable giving an aggressive beat in contrast to the slower moving melody and lyrics. The chorus is classic, with the main hook of the song revolving around the title, with long elongated notes that mean audiences can easily sing along and make this song a live set anthem. It’s great to hear this again from Noel Gallagher and his band have created the perfect backdrop here for another huge success.
