Robin Lundbäck, otherwise professionally known as “Boy In Space” is currently living and making music from his hometown Alingsås in Sweden.
His unique style of what he describes to be Scandinavian Pop with mixtures of urban elements and indie rock vibes, has already seen him gain a large devoted fan base who are absorbed in his captivating lyricism. All of his tracks, which are full of deep anxiety, heartbreak and betrayal, are authentic and emotional and despite assuring everyone he’s a pretty happy guy, Boy In Space has become his way of dealing with the more difficult things in life.
What struck me first with 'u n eye' is the fairly unique range that Boy In Space sings in. With the ever popular vocal effect we are launched into a song that doesn’t rely on too many other gimmicks to sell the structure of the track. A simple acoustic guitar sits behind the main melody for the song, with other instrumentation being brought in as the story develops. Apart from the production on the vocal, the rest of the arrangement is fairly simple, which allows the audience to listen to the phrases that are being delivered and you start to hear the complexity of the song coming through, with fast clever vocal runs and a sequenced production that makes the melody stick in your mind. Robin Lundback is clearly a very good songwriter and what is really impressive is the ear for the final cut. The drop ins and out of other instruments and the background instruments make this a really diverse and interesting song.
There’s a lot to say about this song, some clever creation in melodies, good production and composition that allows for multi instruments to fit together effortlessly, whilst at the same time providing a smooth track that may very well become a hit for Boy In Space.
