There is no denying at this point that Dua Lipa is a magnetic performer but her latest album ‘Future Nostalgia’ catapults her status to that of a bonafide superstar.

This banger of an album released just last night and has already become the talk of the town during what is proving to be a very challenging time for everyone. But the compelling, energetic and straight-up infectious tunes in this playlist should have people arranging impromptu dance parties inside their homes. Dua Lipa harnesses the manic, moody energies of the disco era with more authenticity than any artist had managed to do in recent times.

She is fearless, charming, and immensely mischievous. Each track is packed to the brim with showy, solid basslines that capture the unruly dynamism of the eighties. Songs like “Don’t Start Now” and “Hallucinate” are upbeat, infectious earworms that are held up by familiar guitar chords and synth arrangements, whereas “Boys Will Be Boys” and “Hallucinate” are based on slightly gentler, more introspective rhythms. The overarching theme among all the songs is their electric compositions; there is no room for downers in this album. What’s more, Dua Lipa has not included any collaborations in this album. All the strengths and weaknesses of the album are placed on her shoulders and her shoulders online, and she succeeds without effort. 

All in all, it’s a fantastic sophomore effort from the Albanian-English singer-songwriter, and she is undoubtedly going to be winning a plethora of praise, recognition and acclaim from all the board. Furthermore, the supersonic melodies are set to lift the spirits of the entire world as they cope with the pandemic. 

She told Billboard how the experience of developing this album panned out;

I've been working on it for two years, but for the first year I was still on the road and I was still trying to figure out exactly where I wanted to go with the record. I was in the studio writing and then it was really kind of the last nine months honing it in and just sessions every day and just trying to finish it up. I'm just so happy with the response."
