Zara Larsson’s ‘Love Me Land’ Tantalizes The Senses But Remains Earnest Throughout

Zara Larsson’s latest single ‘Love Me Land’ is a sparkling declaration of love. The Swedish singer and songwriter have never shied away from embracing her glamorous, seductive energy, and she does so with aplomb in her latest venture.
Larsson infuses her latest mix with old-school disco melodies, an infectious interplay of bass and synth, and an inviting aura of trouble. As her longtime fans know, she can masterfully combine both the idea of ‘lust’ and ‘lush’ — glowing with confidence, poise, and sophistication. What sets Larsson apart from other Gen-Z female singers is her ability at crafting engaging composition that actually ebbs and flows through a range of notes. From the get-go, her vocal chops are tested as she reaches for those high notes and her voice is able to maintain those notes with adeptness. The pitch may get higher but Zara remains as impassioned and personable as ever.
The upbeat arrangement in the background, courtesy of dramatic strokes of strings and a funky, delirious percussion, keeps things airy and light. Zara may be pouring her heart out about falling in love following a harsh break-up but the song itself doesn’t dwell on the seriousness. Instead, it sends listeners to a magical, euphoric state of mind that accompanies the feeling of falling love. What’s notable is how Larsson slows it down for the chorus, as the auto-tuned effects lend a sort of techno vibe to the proceedings. The accompanying music video is just as chilling and exhilarating as the audio itself. Featuring a stunning dance performance from Larsson and the smouldering stares directed at the camera that could burn the entire house down, Zara aces as the solo woman. Her spirit and movements point to a woman who’s been put under the spell of love and someone who can’t stop dancing the night away.
Speaking on why she decided to release ‘Love Me Land’ at this time, Larsson said, “I’ve been looking forward to releasing new music for so long. And this song just feels like a perfect pop song, specially now, when I think a lot of people just want music to take a break from everything that’s going on. It’s something to dance to, even if you’re still in quarantine at home.”
