The artist under review today goes by several names. He has released six solo albums under his own name, “Luke Temple”; another four as “Here We Go Magic”; three as his alter ego “Art Feynman”; and the album under review is released with his new group, “Cascading Moms.”

No matter where you decide to listen to Luke, there are some traits in his music that are instantly recognizable: his unique yet shapeshifting voice and the plowlands of music production that in anytime can harvest interesting textures, melodies and breathtaking solos.

The band members are Kosta Galanopoulos, Doug Stuart, and the aforementioned Luke Temple. Kosta has collaborated with Luke many times on his Art Feynman project, but the three of them had never rehearsed together before the band's formation. The improvised nature of this new group, “Cascading Moms,” was, according to their description on Bandcamp, “a product of serendipity.” They initially rehearsed together for an urgent one-time show, but that rehearsal revealed a kind of creative synergy that only ignites when they play together.

Their creative efforts have brought to life an intriguing combination of psychedelic folk with jazz and rock influences, eccentric rhythm changes, and sudden but expertly executed synth solos. Many of the songs feature unpredictable yet satisfying shifts, with these shifts often serving as the choruses themselves. They are catchy and provoke the imagination.

I recommend this album to any discerning listener who enjoys folk or rock but that at the same time are searching for a refreshing twist. This is for you.
