Aminé Makes It Feel So Good—Again

Aminé has recently dropped a new track called “Feels So Good,” and once again, I’m hyped.
I wrote about Aminé recently, and here I am again—because every time he releases something, it feels like an event. What keeps me coming back is the same thing that draws me to Kendrick Lamar: impeccable taste in production. Both artists have a way of picking beats that are sonically unique yet still perfectly tailored to their style. With Aminé, I know his musicality will guide the audience, no matter what kind of instrumental he’s working with.
Even when he collaborates with producers he’s worked with before, the result still feels fresh. There’s always something new to hear—and the one constant is Aminé’s voice and energy, grounding everything.
The last track I heard from him was “Vacay,” another upbeat cut full of feel-good vibes. Now, with the release of a full album—“13 Months of Sunshine”—I’ll definitely be diving into the whole project. If you think about it, making a unique beat isn’t all that difficult in theory. With endless combinations of sounds and instruments available, you can technically create something original at any time. But making something unique that actually sounds good? That’s where it gets tricky. And that’s exactly where Aminé—and his collaborators Dahi and FNZ—shine on this track.
“Feels So Good” is built on a hi-hat ticking like a metronome, steady and driving. A clicky, clacky kick drum skips around the rhythm, just elusive enough to keep you on your toes. There’s a slightly dissonant, rave-like synth playing short, pulsing chords in the background, mirrored by a deep bassline. Whether that bass is coming from the same synth or a separate source, I’m not entirely sure—though it sounds like the latter. Layered on top are wooshy percussive elements, a breakdown section, and a handful of unexpected details that reveal themselves over time.
As a producer, what amazes me most is imagining how you’d build a track like this, step by step. Each individual sound is so well-crafted, but choosing where to go next during the creation process? That takes serious vision.
Bottom line: it’s a great track. Go give “Feels So Good” a listen.
