Boyzone Banned From Using Stephen Gately's Vocals

Members of the boy band Boyzone have revealed that they may be unable to use the late Stephen Gately's vocals on their new abum.
The band were in the middle of recording the album when Stephen Gately tragically died back in 2009 aged 33 and were planning on using some tracks that they had started prior to his death on their 20th anniversary album.
Shane Lynch of the band revealed all in an interview with the Daily Star on Sunday about how the band were under dispute with Gately's estate over who owns his vocals.
He told them: “We'd love to use his vocals but it's not so simple. Apparently, even though we were in a band with him for 17 years, we can't use his voice. But there you go.
“When Stephen died we were in the middle of making an album. The last thing we could have done was continue after losing Stephen. But he is very much alive on those songs.”
Gerald Kean, a solicitor that represents the Gately family said that his clients were “unaware of any dispute” although according to newspaper the Belfast Telegraph, the tension is between the band and Gately's husband Andy Cowles rather than the rest of his family.
Boyzone are hoping that when they tour to celebrate the band's anniversary, they will be able to use a hologram of Stephen Gately.
