James Arthur Hits a Million Sales of "Impossible"
- in Latest
James Arthur has become the latest artist to reach a million sales with his cover of Shontelle's "Impossible".
The Official Charts Company announced that he had reached the milestone at midnight on Thursday, just four weeks after the song's release.
Martin Talbot, of the Official Charts Company, said, "Hitting the million mark in around a month is a fantastic achievement for James Arthur.
"X Factor winners often score strong first week sales but to push through to the million mark so quickly is truly impressive."
The song has had a turbulent time in the charts so far. It was released on 9th December and went straight to number one the week before Christmas but was then knocked off the spot by the Justice Collective's "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", only to reclaim the title the week after.
"Impossible" is only the 127th song in the UK to pass the one million mark which shows just how big an achievement it is.
As well as that, the song has also gained James a BRIT Award nomination for Best British Single though he is up against some stiff competition from artist such as Coldplay with "Princess of China" and Adele's "Skyfall" which has also been nominated for an Oscar.
