Grandfather Steals Games From HMV After Voucher Outrage
- in Latest
A grandfather in Ireland has shown his outrage at HMV’s decision not to honour their gift vouchers by walking out of one of their stores with three video games.
Eric Nolan who is from Tyrrelstown in Dublin bought his grandson €40 worth of vouchers, roughly about £33, for Christmas.
Unfortunately, HMV announced they would no longer be honouring gift vouchers after they went into administration on Tuesday. They have been one of the UK's biggest high street music chains selling CD's, DVD's and video games.
According to the Irish Independent, Nolan was followed down Dublin’s Henry Street having left the store with Euro Truck Simulator 2 (€22.40), The Sims 3 Town Life (€11.99) and Rail Simulator (€28), totalling to €62.39 worth of games.
With the blue cross sale that the store is currently running, the total of the three games would have come to €46.80 and Nolan has promised that he will post the €40 voucher to the company, along with the remaining €6.80 balance.
He spoke out to the Irish Independent saying: "Somebody has made a conscious decision not to pay out on vouchers and it's despicable.
"We are a nation of sheep - but I was determined to win this. HMV have taken hundreds of thousands of euros from the Irish people this Christmas and we shouldn't put up with it."
