Dave Grohl has debuted his new super group, The Sound City Players by putting on a three hour performance at the Sundance Film Festival.

His Foo Fighters Band mates accompanied him throughout the show and Grohl took the crowd on a journey through the history of the music recorded at Sound City Studios, introducing a long list of legend to play with him onstage.

Among the line-up of 17 musicians onstage was Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty and Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk as well as Grohl’s ex-Nirvana band mates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, and his Foo Fighters band mates Nate Mendel and Chris Shiflett.

All of the musicians have previously recorded at Sound City Studios and appear in Grohl’s new documentary about the studio which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Former Beatles member Paul McCartney also appears in the film after he appeared with the remaining members of Nirvana during the hurricane Sandy benefit concert.

This year will certainly be a big one with Dave Grohl with not only his debut as a director but he will also be returning to the stage with Queens of the Stone Age as their drummer when they play at the South By Southwest festival in Texas on March 14.
