HMV’s Twitter Account Documents Live Staff Firings
- in Latest
A HMV employee has kept Twitter followers of the franchise entertained this afternoon by documenting an “X Factor style” live firing of staff through the official account.
The Twitter feed has remained quiet since it was used to announce the start of the blue cross sale early in January but was a hive of activity this afternoon revealing that 60 employees were being fired en masse and even using the hash tag #hmvXFactorFiring.
It all started with the tweet: "We're tweeting live from HR where we're all being fired! Exciting!!" before continuing by saying: "There are over 60 of us being fired at once! Mass execution, of loyal employees who love the brand."
All of the Tweets are shown below:
The tweets were swiftly deleted.
The debt restructuring firm Hilco is currently working to save at least half of HMV’s stores across the country and reportedly also in talks with Jessops over opening scaled down versions of their stores in HMVs.
There have been many rumours of potential buyers for the chain but as yet none have been confirmed.
