This year’s Super Bowl has become the third most watched TV ever thanks to Beyonce’s halftime performance.

Data from Nielsen shows that it the Super Bowl itself was watched by 108.41 million people with 104 million saying that they watched the segment that included Beyonce’s halftime performance.

Even Beyonce’s celebrity wasn’t enough to topple the Super Bowl XLVI and the Super Bowl XLV which hold the first and second places for most watched TV show.

Madonna performed at the halftime show for Super Bowl XLVI and she catapulted the event into first place with 114 million viewers. In doing so, she took the title that had previously been held by Michael Jackson.

Unfortunately for Beyonce, her performance couldn’t best the XLV event which featured a medley by the Black Eyed Peas, a guest appearance from Slash and Usher performing with Will.i.am.

However, Beyonce will be able to console herself with the fact that during her performance, both she and Destiny’s Child saw their number of record sales soar.

Destiny’s Child’s sales rose by an incredible 600% and Beyonce’s increased by a lesser but equally impressive 230%.

The song that saw the biggest increase in sales was Beyonce’s “Halo” which she performed to close her set.
