Ed Sheeran Takes a Dig at Duffy at Brit Awards
- in Latest
Ed Sheeran took a cheeky dig at fellow Brit Award success story last night after using her as an example to prove that winning awards doesn’t always guarantee longevity in the charts.
Duffy was queen of the Brits back in 2009, where she picked up three awards for Best British Female, British Single and British Album for Rockferry.
After that, her career took a swift downward turn and when she released her second album Endlessly, it became a major flop and resulted in her being dropped by her record company.
Sheeran was asked at the awards last night if his success last year guaranteed him a long career in music and his swift answer was “No”.
He went on to explain: "Because Duffy won three. That was probably in bad taste but... you just need to keep on going I suppose."
The singer didn't have the best of nights last night after revealing that he lost his phone that contains much of the material for his new album during the evening.
In an interview today, he said: "I lost my phone... Not the one I use (for calls) but that (one that) has no signal and has my album on it and it isn't locked."
