Instagram have threatened to shut down Madonna’s account with them claiming that she has violated the photo sharing site’s guidelines.

Madge took a picture of the letter that she received from them asking her not to “share photos that show nudity or mature content” and shared it.

The letter says: "Dear Madonna, it has come to our attention that your account on Instagram has violated our community guidelines ... We ask that you: don't share photos that aren't yours [and] don't share photos that show nudity or mature content."

The letter also goes on further, telling her not to post “photos of illegal content” or “photos that attack an individual or group”.

It is uncertain which pictures that Madonna has uploaded have caused the stir; she only joined the site in November and has so far only uploaded 19 photos but none of them are particularly offensive.

The only questionable snaps that she has posted are one showing her rear and another showing her cleavage though neither is particularly provocative.

Madonna has been no stranger to controversy during her career and even on her recent MDNA tour having caused a stir in Russia for defending the jailed members of Pussy Riot onstage.
