21 by Adele is Worldwide Top Seller For the Second Year in a Row
- in Latest
The biggest selling albums worldwide of 2012 have been announced and Adele has come out on top again with “21”; the second year in a row that the album has been the biggest seller.
Even though the album was released back in 2011, it still managed to shift 8.3 million units last year. The next biggest seller, Taylor Swift’s “Red” still sold 3.1 million less than Adele.
One Direction were in the top five twice with their albums “Up all Night” and “Take me Home” taking the third and fourth positions so all in all, it was a good year for Brits in terms of dominating the charts.
Adele may have been incredibly successful in terms of sales and in picking up awards but she currently has no plans of following up with a new album any time soon.
She told Rolling Stone magazine: "I'm not very far along at all. I'm having lots of meetings. I've been in L.A. the whole time since the Globes and I'll be here till the Oscars.
"So I'm having lots of meetings, but I've been out of the loop, really. I've just been singing my baby nursery rhymes, so I don't really know what's cool and what's not."
