The Simpsons Change Harlem Shake to Homer Shake
- in Latest
YouTube craze the “Harlem Shake” has had a radical makeover and become the “Homer Shake” as part of a promo that Fox created to plug the latest episode of the show.
The short promo follows the same premise as everyone’s favourite Harlem Shake videos and starts by showing infamous baby Maggie Simpson wearing a helmet and dancing while the rest of her family carry about their business without paying any attention to her.
Before long, her family joins in and then the while town starts to dance along to Homer’s own version of the song.
“Harlem Shake” by Baauer is following in the footsteps of Gangnam Style by making the jump from YouTube sensation to the music charts and this week made history in Australia by becoming the 1000th number one song there.
The song was first released back in May 2012 but didn’t begin to take off until fans started uploading their own Harlem Shake videos on YouTube.
It remains to be seen if the song will mirror the immense success of Psy’s Gangnam Style but so far it’s looking good for the American DJ.
