Gossip website TMZ have reported that a hacker has managed to obtain and has subsequently published personal financial information about a host of big name stars including Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Other targeted stars include Mel Gibson, Ashton Kutcher, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.

Major US political figures were also subject to the attack including Hilary Clinton and director of the FBI Robert Mueller.

A number of personal details were revealed as part of the attack including credit card details, social security numbers and contact information for the high profile targets.

The information was all made public via screen shots of the information in question.

Little information is known at the moment of the person responsible but the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI are currently looking in to the case.

Though subject to the attack, Jay-Z will be keeping busy this year as he is set to headline this year’s Wireless Festival and will also currently working on his own remake of the musical Annie which has already been given a release date of Christmas Day 2014.
