There has been outrage among fans after unopened fanmail bound for Taylor Swift was found in a recycling bin.

A local teenager in Nashville Tennessee, Kylee Francescan found hundreds of letters from fans of the US singer whilst she was recycling newspapers and proceeded to forward them to a local television station who then bought the incident to the attention of Swift’s representatives.

Kylee said of the find: "I didn't know if they were stolen or discarded so I threw them in a box. And I'm like, 'Somebody needs to let Taylor know.' It did bother me because I know how much her fans mean to her."

After an investigation by Swift’s people, spokesperson Paula Erickson commented saying: "Taylor gets thousands of fan letters every day and they are delivered to her management office. After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled.

"The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling centre. We sincerely appreciate [local television station] Channel 2 bringing this to our attention."

Swift herself is currently preparing for her Red tour which commences tonight.
