Green Day’s Billie Joe Writing Music for Shakespeare Adaptation

Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong is set to write the music for a rock adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Much Ado About Nothing.

The play which will be entitled “These Paper Bullets” is being put on by the Yale Repertory Theater and is a modern reworking of the famous play.

The play will follow a band from Liverpool as they try to cope with being a part of the London music industry.

This isn't the first time that Armstrong has been part of a theatre production as he was famously a creative force behind Green Day’s Broadway show “American Idiot” back in 2010.

Green Day have a busy year ahead of them as they were revealed to be headlining this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals and will also be playing a massive gig at London's Emirates Stadium in June.

This all comes just six months after Armstrong left rehab for alcohol and insomnia pills.

The band’s bassist Mike Dirnt revealed that there are concerns and also how the band are feeling ahead of the high profile gigs. He said: "It's nerve-wrecking playing these shows after Billie Joe's rehab. The shit really hit the fan but we're ready to get the fuck out of home again."
