Girl group Girls Aloud have announced that they will finally be splitting up after only recently getting back together for their tenth anniversary.

The girls announced the split just after they got off stage at the final performance of their reunion tour in Liverpool.

It was hinted at after the performance but then later confirmed on Twitter. The girls posted: "Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!

“This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade. It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!!'

Their Ten: The Hits Tour has taken them around the country for the last month and acted as a final goodbye to all the fans that helped them achieve the success that they have enjoyed for the last ten years.

He girls completed their announcement on Twitter by saying: “Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots.”
