Music mogul Simon Cowell has claimed that he never craved the things that he can now afford when he was younger and before his career took off.

He is rumoured to be worth a whopping £300 million though he will neither confirm nor deny the figure.

He claims that young people these days are far too materialistic, and that he was never as such in his youth.

"Well, first of all, be patient before you make any money and you have got to want to learn - I think that is absolutely key. The difference now compared to when I was growing up - designer things, travel, a phone - none of us had a clue. I never craved anything that I couldn't afford,” he said in an interview with Radio Times Magazine.

One key area that the 53 year old is said to really splash out is on beauty treatments, some conventional such as botox, others more out there like placenta facials.

On having botox treatments, Cowell said: "It's all true. I mean, not 500 push-ups [a day] but several hundred. I work out three or four times a week, I have Botox, take tons of vitamins and vitamin infusions - if you believe that these things work, you will feel better."
