BBC Radio 1 have announced that they are planning to ban tickets for the Big Weekend in Londonderry that have been resold using sites such as eBay.

The station have given out 37,500 tickets for the free event which will be taking place on 24th-26th May at Ebrington in Derry and they were all quickly snapped up within an hour.

Some tickets have already appeared on the auction site eBay and the BBC are planning to take action to put people off buying them.

A spokesperson for Radio 1 told BBC Newbeat: "Tickets for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend Derry~Londonderry are free and we work with those running major auction websites and sales outlets to have posts offering tickets for sale or trade removed."

"Those offering tickets for sale are breaking the Terms & Conditions they agreed to during the booking process and we reserve the right to cancel them."

The full line-up for the event has not yet been announced although Olly Murs and Two Door Cinema Club have been confirmed as taking part in the event.
